Automatic extraction of assembly information from CAD assemblies

Optical sensor systems offer the potential to continuously and automatically record assembly conditions and derive information, but require a high level of planning, configuration and implementation effort. The IFPT is therefore working on a tool that enables the semi-automated planning and commissioning of sensor systems for the inspection of assembly modules. In terms of content, this thesis is positioned at the beginning of the targeted process chain and creates the information basis for defining the relevant inspection characteristics.

The aim is to develop a method for extracting assembly information such as component data, contact information and connection types from CAD data. For this purpose, the relevant state of the art will be examined, relevant information as well as information representations will be selected and the extraction mechanisms will be programmed. Subsequently, the functionality is tested and evaluated on selected assembly modules.
